About ArtMetrics Foundation
ArtMetrics Foundation is a public-interest nonprofit focused on evidence-first nonprofit rankings, alerts, and plain-English methodology.
Mission
The foundation exists to help funders, nonprofit leaders, and the public understand which organizations show elevated governance or financial risk, why those signals matter, and what evidence supports the score. The site is designed to make public filings more usable, not to replace legal advice or formal oversight.
What the website does
- Ranks nonprofit governance risk using public evidence.
- Surfaces alerts with methodology and source context.
- Shows organizations what funders see before the first conversation.
- Provides a public sector view of trends across arts and music nonprofits.
Entity structure
The foundation is a separate nonprofit corporation. The existing ARTS METRICS LLC business entity remains separate and is not the public charitable vehicle for this site. ArtMetrics Foundation is, at this stage, a single-founder organization: there is no built-out staff or operating team yet, and the site says so plainly rather than implying otherwise.
The Team
Willis Glen "Chip" Miller III
Chip is a uniquely hybrid founder, bridging the worlds of high-level musical artistry and complex data engineering. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Houston and has performed extensively as a concert pianist. Simultaneously, he has spent over a decade architecting mission-critical data systems as a Senior Data Engineer (Civitas Learning), Data Architect (MyEdu), and independent consultant. His dual expertise in the arts sector and scalable data infrastructure drives ArtMetrics' mission to bring analytical clarity to arts and culture nonprofits.
Current operating gaps
ArtMetrics is actively seeking advisors and design partners in nonprofit law, foundation grantmaking, arts administration, privacy/security, and public-sector data infrastructure.
Data and engineering responsibility
Chip currently holds sole responsibility for the site's data pipeline, scoring methodology, and engineering, as the sole founder and builder. There is no separate data or engineering team yet. As advisors or technical partners are brought on, this responsibility will be shared and documented here.
Privacy and correction responsibility
Chip currently holds sole responsibility for privacy practices and for responding to correction requests from organizations named on the site, as the sole founder and builder. There is no separate privacy, legal, or trust-and-safety team yet. As advisors or partners are brought on in nonprofit law and privacy/security, this responsibility will be shared and documented here.
Advisor needs
Until advisors and design partners are brought on, Chip holds all of the responsibilities above as sole founder and builder. ArtMetrics is seeking advisors and design partners in nonprofit law, foundation grantmaking, arts administration, privacy/security, and public-sector data infrastructure.
